DISTRICT COST-SHARE PROGRAMS:
The Kendall County SWCD has program opportunities available to help you reach your conservation goals. Listed below are some examples of projects we can provide assistance towards.
PARTNERS FOR CONSERVATION (PFC) PROGRAM:
The Partners for Conservation Program is administered locally by the Kendall County SWCD. The program provides technical and cost-share assistance as well as other financial incentives for the construction or adoption of projects that conserve soil, enhance water quality, and protect other natural resources. Eligible practices include:
Erosion and Sediment Control Projects – The Erosion and Sediment Control Projects component of the Partners for Conservation Program addresses conservation practices including:
Grassed Waterways
Filter Strips
Grade Stabilization Structures
Cover Crops
Pollinator Habitat
Rain Gardens
Water & Sediment Control Basins
Water Well Decommissioning
The Water Well Decommissioning Practice (WDP) provides assistance to owners of improperly abandoned wells who wish to seal their wells in order to protect groundwater from potential contamination.
An abandoned well is an unused water well, and it poses one of the greatest threats to groundwater because it provides a direct route for pollutants to reach underground water supplies. Proper and timely sealing of unused water well protects groundwater from potential contamination and is required by state law. Any individual who has water well on their property within Kendall County is eligible for cost-share assistance.
Special Projects –The Special Projects component of the Partners for Conservation program addresses unique practices including:
Stream Crossings
Urban Retrofitting
Shelterbelts
Windbreaks
Urban Gully Restoration
Retention Pond Buffers
Ecologically Sensitive Area Protection
And More…If you have a resource need that is not listed, just let us know – we may have the assistance and funds to help!
STREAMBANK STABILIZATION RESTORATION PROGRAM (SSRP):
The Streambank Stabilization & Restoration Program (SSRP) is a component of the Partners for Conservation (PFC) Program that provides cost-share assistance and other financial incentives for addressing and alleviating streambank erosion issues. These issues are addressed through vegetative, stone structure, and bioengineering techniques.
Streambank erosion is a natural process that occurs in all streams as water wears away the soil and rock that form their banks. However, when left unchecked, can be responsible for the loss or damage to valuable farmland, wildlife habitat, buildings, roads, bridges and other public and private structures and property. Landowners with severely eroding streambank sites, where effective low-cost streambank stabilization techniques can be established, may be eligible for cost-share provided that the project site meets the assessment and selection criteria established for successful streambank stabilization.
